– In addition to the traditional clothes of our people (Ekaterina is the leader), music and souvenirs, we have always presented traditional food. And when our family worked in the Northern Courtyard of Narva Castle, we introduced guests to the ancient cuisine of different nations. And I have long wanted to translate this extensive twenty-year experience in cooking into something more, which is what my family and I did.
The days of Karelian, Izhorian and Votic cuisine have already passed in the People's Cafe, and Livonian and Ingrian Finnish cuisine are ahead. From November 25 to December 16, every week in the People's Cafe you can taste Christmas cuisine of different nations.
At the end of October, a unique cafe opened in the House of Ingria, on Vakzali, 19, where on Fridays guests are offered food from the peoples of our region: Karelians, Izhorians, Vodi, Livs, Ingrian Finns. In the evenings they show themed films. Every Saturday this cafe operates in the Narva art residence, where a journalist from Narvskaya Gazeta talked with the organizers of the delicious business.
The idea to open this cafe came to us a long time ago, even when my family and I went to various folk festivals,” says Ekaterina Kuznetsova, an artist and musician.
